Where in the world is La Grange, California? La Grange is at the base of the Sierra-Nevada Foothills in Mariposa County, and Goatback Mountain Ranch is located on Highway 132 just east of La Grange, and 20 miles west of the historic Mother Lode Highway 49. In fact, there’s about a ¼ mile section of the ‘Old Highway 132’ cobbled road surface that dissects our ranch from west to east. Read more about our ranch and the local history.

LarryOur ranch lies at an elevation of only 743 feet above sea level and our goats are grass pasture-raised on forty acres of a sunny, rocky, and browse-rich environment. There are literally hundreds of Oaks and a natural riparian habitat that is ideal for this breed of goat. We breed our two IBGA-registered (International Boer Goat Association) 100% Full Blood Bucks to about 20 Full Blood Does, along with many IBGA-registered Purebred and Percentage Does. These animals comprise the Goatback Mountain Ranch herd’s primary breeding stock. Because we endure long periods of severely hot, dry weather from June to September our kidding takes place two times a year, usually from January to March, and not again until the cooler fall weather. This makes for lots of kids “on the ground.”
